Science Park - Research Division • Department of Carcinogenesis
Situated between two state parks in the tall pines of Central Texas, the Science Park - Research Division (SPRD) has been operational since 1977. SPRD provides an ideal setting for scientific research, as well as conferences and workshops that address current findings in the causes of cancer, its prevention, and its treatment. Since the inception of the SPRD, the campus has steadily increased in size and it is now recognized as a world leader in the field of carcinogenesis research.

Currently, there are 257 employees on the SPRD campus. The professional research force of 82 includes: 25 resident faculty, 8 joint/adjunct faculty, 9 junior faculty, 25 postdoctoral fellows, and 15 research investigators and research scientists. All members of the faculty are involved in education programs, which include training at the postgraduate, graduate, undergraduate and high school levels. In addition, The Community Outreach & Education Program at SPRD develops and conducts programs to enhance K-12 science education, improve scientific literacy and increase public appreciation of research into the causes and prevention of environmental diseases, including cancer.
